On the whole the internet is a really positive place, but there are still too many young people who have negative experiences like being targeted with mean comments. This Safer Internet Day young people should come together to explore how we can change things.
This may mean different things to different people but as parents we all want our children to enjoy all the benefits of the internet and none of the risks. How do we go about educating our children to understand the benefits and to avoid the dangers.
Perhaps you could talk to your child about what actions they could take to make the internet a kinder place?
Here are some Childalert agreement rules but first why not just get involved – support your kids when young in their exploring of then internet – share fun things with them – don’t just leave them alone to play on your tablet and find out for themselves!
Parents and carers play a crucial role in supporting children to navigate the risks while also making the most of the opportunities offered by technology. The most important thing you can do is to have a conversation and stay engaged with your children’s digital lives.
